A 23-year-old woman has been placed into police custody after attempting to smuggle a quantity of cannabis into the New Amsterdam Prison, sealed in two papayas.
The police report stated that the suspect brought food for an inmate at the facility on Wednesday at around 14:28hrs.
A search was carried out on the food, and prison officers discovered five bulky parcels wrapped in transparent plastic containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems hidden in two papayas.
The woman was arrested and remains in police custody.
The items were weighed and amounted to 192 grams of cannabis.
