A Primary School pupil lost her life on Saturday after she attempted to cross the road to purchase chewing gums from a shop on the other side of the road on the Farm, East Bank Essequibo, Public Road.

Dead is six-year-old Kelissa Richards. She was struck down by motorcar PRR 7918.

Reports indicate that she was picked up in an unconscious state by the driver of the motorcar and rushed to the Leonora Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Her mother had told the child that she would purchase the chewing gum later in the evening, but the pupil ventured onto the roadway on her own, resulting in the fatal accident.
