Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Hon. Anil Nandlall today visited the relatives of Rishi Bharrat who was fatally beaten on Saturday evening by a group of men infront of his house located in Crabwood Creek, Upper Corentyne.
Mr. Nandlall took the opportunity to express condolences on behalf of President, His Excellency Dr. Irfaan Ali and the government of Guyana, to the relatives and friends of the deceased.
During the meeting, Mr. Nandlall explained that crime is a “serious problem” in the country and the Caribbean.
He then noted, that the government has been working around the clock to deal with the crime situation in a wholistic manner.
Nandlall pointed out, that after the closure of the sugar estates by the Apnu/Afc alot of persons were forced into unemployment and on the wrong path, as such the PPP/c government has also been working to ensure investments are being made in Berbice so as to create jobs and opportunities for persons in the region.
Also present was the Regional Vice Chairman, Zamal Hussain, and Commander of Region Six, Jairam Ramlakhan.
