PPP Candidate and Attorney Anil Nandlall has indicated that he intends to make an application to the Court to become a party to the matter filed against the Elections Commission and he will seek to get the matter thrown out completely.

Meanwhile, the People’s Progressive Party in a statement this afternoon blasted President David Granger and the APNU+AFC coalition as well as the Guyana Elections Commission over the ongoing delay in a recount of the votes.

The PPP blasted the move to the Court by a private citizen who is a coalition supporter to block the recount, resulting in the move by CARICOM to withdraw its high-level team which should have been overlooking the recount.

According to the PPP’s statement, there have been consistent efforts by agents of the President to undermine the CARICOM agreement, although it was requested by the President himself.

“The global community has seen the true nature of Mr. Granger and his cabal. This is now revealed, firsthand, to the leaders of CARICOM. They, too, will not be able to recognize his illegal and illegitimate regime should he move forward to be sworn in based on fraudulent results”, the PPP’s statement said.

The party said the truth of the results of the 2020 General and Regional Election results is in the ballot boxes and that is why the recount is being resisted.

The PPP noted that the APNU+AFC coalition and a tiny cabal are alone in the fight and it has the international community, local organisations and even the small parties on its side.
